Breaking: Wall Posts on Facebook Fan Pages can be Targeted!
Nick Oneill of AllFacebook.com reported last night about the latest and greatest Facebook feature for Fan Page admins in his post Facebook Enables Page Administrators To Target Stream Stories and Facebook reported in the early hours of the morning with a note New: Publish to Fans Based on Location and Language. So what is the new feature? Fan Page admins can now customize which fans see Wall posts based on language and location, as granular as by city for some countries! This models the functionality of how page admins can target Fan Updates.
What does this mean for all Fan Page admins? This offers an enormous opportunity to further customize content that is pushed to the stream of Fan Pages, making the content even more relevant to fans and therefore leading to more engagement, conversions and positive brand association. This can have many positive implications for a variety of fan page uses, as Facebook’s note point out:
- Global brands: Starbucks, who has over 5MM Fans across the world, may want to talk about a new drink currently only available in the U.K.
- Musicians & Celebrities: The Foo Fighters may want to announce to fans in California that new tour dates have been added across the state.
- Local: Red Mango may want to let fans in Palo Alto, California know that a new frozen yogurt shop is opening locally.
- Celebrities: Roger Federer may want to separately thank his English-speaking and French-speaking fans in their respective languages.
The one question that is left unanswered is how the Wall will look to non-fans. Page admins will be able to see all of the posts, whether targeted or not, and from what I understand, non-fans will see this same view of the Wall before they become fans.
Here at theKbuzz we’re extremely excited to start employing this new feature for our own clients and Fan Page! We can’t stress enough how important the stream feature is when engaging with fans and this is another fantastic tool from Facebook to give admins more opportunities to cater their messaging to make a better user-experiences for fans.
